Women in Film and Television's Oscar Talk Mix and Mingle

It was a wonderful evening at the WIFT-Houston Oscar Talk Mix and Mingle with Houston Film Critic Society’s Michael Bergeron, Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, upstairs at the “Ernie’s at Bank” Restaurant and Pub in the Museum District. Hosted by President of WIFT-Houston Jolene McMaster, the mix and mingle brought in a lot of familiar faces in both the television and film industries. Mr. Bergeron spoke about the Oscars and revealed some insights into the selection process and his views as to some of the possible Oscar choices that may be made. It was a relaxing and unpretentious environment as both members and guests asked questions. We asked Mr. Bergeron what he thought his focus on the nights Oscar Talk would accomplished? He said, " I am trying to start a discussion on the Oscars and trying to get people thinking in different directions that they hadn’t approached. For most people, they have maybe watched five films in the entire year.  I guarantee you that there is a handful of people here who haven’t seen any of the movies nominated by the Academy. And there is some people who have seen them all. What I am doing tonight is just starting a discussion and trying to get people interested in the process." 

A buffet was set up and door prizes were awarded. 

C-47 Houston magazine was there to take some pictures and meet some new and interesting people. This mix and mingle was also a chance for WIFT-Houston to build up its membership.
