The Texas Motion Picture Alliance Need your Help!

Letter-writing campaign March 19, 2009

(((( Update: March 20, 2009))))

From: Sharon Murphy

Don Stokes (President TXMPA) and Rick Ferguson (Houston Film Commissioner) said that Rep Creighton’s office had gotten lots of calls and emails requesting he support HB 873. They got the message and all is good.

If you have not called, emailed or written – please save it for later.  We still have two months to go as the legislation moves through the system and it would be better, now, for the communications to come into his office slowly, steadily, and spread out.

For those of you not in the Conroe/Woodlands area, please also take the time to write to your individual representative and request their support.  They really pay special attention to the voters from their district.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP – WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER – WE GET RESULTS!!!!!

Original Request:

March 19, 2009

The Texas Motion Picture Alliance needs your help in a letter-writing campaign to voice your opinion to a local Texas Representative. from the Conroe/Magnolia area who is on the House appropriations Committee and has expressed his opposition to HB873. These incentives are important to Texas and to Houston as it relates to the Film and Television industry and the local economy.

Here is the Letter I recieved:

From Sharon Murphy:

TXMPA’s work toward getting a much better incentive package to help stimulate the film and moving image industry in Texas has been moving along slowly and surely – but we have just hit a snag.  And that snag is the representative from the Conroe/Magnolia area who is on the House Appropriations Committee and has expressed his opposition to HB873:  Brandon Creighton

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, anyone and everyone who lives in his district write him a letter today asking for his support of the bill and tell a little bit of your history/story and how the bill will directly impact you.  Be sure and state you are from his district, give your correct address, and tell him how many friends you have that this bill will impact.  This bill is about bringing JOBS to Texas – something everyone can support!

If you do not live in his district, please write him anyway.  If you have a friend or relative that lives in his district, write a letter for them and ask them to sign and mail it!

It would also be wonderful if a group of you from the area could make some flyers and take them to busy areas of the district to hand out, asking those that receive the flyer to call or write Brandon Creighton and ask for his support of the bill.

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!

WE NEED EVERYONE TO GET INVOLVED AND PUSH THIS LEGISLATION THROUGH!!

Representative Brandon Creighton
