News Updates: Updated September 16, 2008

Due to Hurricane Ike and our city's recovery from it's wrath, the Southwest Alternate Media Project and the Texas Association of Lawyers and Accountants is postponing their scheduled 2008 "Business of Film" conference.

Below is the press release:

SWAMP & TALA'S BUSINESS OF FILM CONFERENCE POSTPONED!

Dear SWAMP Members & Friends

I hope everyone was able to get through Hurricane Ike with minimal damage. Thank you to everyone who sent well-wishes. SWAMP managed to weather the storm just fine. We still do not have electricity (as of this email), but we are thankful that that's all we're dealing with as a result of this storm. Rice Media Center suffered some minor exterior wind damage, but thankfully did not sustain any major damage to the interior or exterior.

Due to continuing electrical outages around the city and other ongoing issues resulting from Hurricane Ike, we have decided to postpone SWAMP and TALA's annual Business of Film conference which was scheduled to take place this weekend at Rice. We feel the condition of our city in the hurricane's aftermath is not ideal for holding a conference at this time. The conference will be rescheduled and we'll let you know as soon as we set a date. For those who pre-registered for the conference, you will be reimbursed.

Also, our phone system is still down, so if you need to reach us you can email us at swamp@swamp.org.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your understanding. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Michelle Mower
