The estate of the man who owns the rights to the 1954 movie "Rear Window" is suing the makers of the 2007 film "Disturbia" claiming the 2007 teen thriller is basically the same movie as the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock classic. 

With a budget of 20 million dollars, "Disturbia" was considered a modest hit raking in some 80.2 million dollars in the United States. Produced By Steven Spielberg and directed by D.J Caruso, the estate did not share in the sales.

Sheldon Abend, the owner of "Rear Window" claims to have bought the rights from writer Comell Woolrich in 1968 when after he died. "Rear Window" is based on the 1942 story "It Had to Be Murder" written by Woolrich.

The Estate of Sheldon Abend is claiming "Disturbia" is violating copyright law.

The director D.J. Caruso claims that "Rear Window" was an inspiration.
