Filmmakers and Music Composers came together last month in July, to swap their talents in the 5th Annual 2008 A/V Swap - Houston. Participants kicked-off the start of the Swap by submitting their original works to Ms. Michelle Hempton, the Director and Founder of this lucrative organization. Original film works submitted to the A/V Swap lacked a music track and original composed music were submitted without visuals attached to the music. During phase two of the A/V Swap both participants returned to "Swap" their works. Filmmakers randomly picked an original work of music and Music Composers randomly picked an original work of film. The participants then had three weeks to create their works of art, where filmmakers completed an entirely new film with the original composed music and Composers would score a silent film to make a variation on the art form. During phase three of the A/V Swap on August 10th, this month, the participant turned in their completed projects to to the A/V Swap headquarters to mark the end of this intense time-restrained project of creating new works of art and film. If you missed it, the stylish Michelle Hempton threw a fundraiser to fund this year's A/V Swap screenings. The A/V Swap Happy Hour Fundraiser collected tips at the River Oaks Theater Lounge upstairs at the movie theater August 13th. C-47 Houston was there to support them and donated to the cause. The fundraiser collected a couple of hundred dollars in donations, and, a years worth of movie tickets at the River Oaks Theater was drawn to one lucky person that attended the fundraiser. The A/V Swap will be screening the latest edition of the 2008 films coming up Thursday August 21st at the downtown's Angelika Theater - Houston starting at 7PM. This will be an event! For the less formal, an encore screening of the 2008 films will be shown at the River Oaks Theater at Midnight the same night and after the Angelika screening.
