Saturday - The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Aurora Picture Show are pleased to invite the public to the screening of its inaugural "Extremely Young Film Festival" starting at 6PM in the Brown Auditorium Theater in the Caroline Wiess Law Building at the Museum of Fine Arts (1001 Bissonnet, Houston TX 77005 Corner of Bissonnet and Montrose) This screening showcases the talents of young moviemakers under 17 years of age and movies less than 3-minutes in running time. Judging by Chris Stompolos.  Celebrating their artistic, creative and techincal strenghts and interpretations on the world, these voices are the future of media expression. The Managing Artistic Director of Mildred's Umbrella, Ms. Jennifer Decker is please to invite the public to attend the running of John Harvey's World Premiere stage play "Rome" at Studio 101 (1824 Spring Street, Houston TX 77007)  This original script is being written by local playwright, John Harvey, workshopped by designers, musicians and actors, video documented over a year and presented as a collaborative effort as our final play in the season  For tickets and details visit:

Premier of "Unearthling" and other short Movies

Saturday - The Museum of Fin Arts, Houston is pleased to invite the public to "Unearthling and other Short Films: by Director/Artist Peter Lucas" starting at 7PM at the Brown Auditorium in the Caroline Wiess Law Building at the MFAH (1001 Bissonnet, Houston TX 77005 on the corner of Bissonnet and Montrose) This will showcase a selection of experimental work by Houston Artist Peter Lucas and premiering his new short movie "Unearthling". The movie follows the arrival of a spaceman with glimpses from the lives of young earthlings. The movie references pop cinema-especially the western and sci-fi genres. Thursday through Saturday - THE 2014 VISUAL IMAGE AND THE FUTURE OF THE MEDICAL HUMANITIES CONFERENCEAT: Open Gates (998 25th St. Galveston, TX 77550) The Conference will bring together scholars, clinicians, scientific investigators and artists to discuss the role of visual images in the medical humanities: how they are being created, circulated, used in medical settings and beyond. We are interested in recognizing how the visualization of health impact patients and healers (broadly defined) in dynamic ways to develop new languages in which to speak to and about them with people around the world. We see this conference as the first step in establishing a collaborative dialogue regarding the contemporary and historical status of the visual image within the medical humanities through a series of follow‐up meetings and projects held in USA & Europe. Thursday, Friday and Saturday - WMGE,LLC and Kris Gauger Thompson are pleased to invite the public to the play performances of the top 10 finalist picked for their 2nd Annual Fade To Black: A Series of New Works written by Black Playwrights" submissions in February through April of this year, 2014. Each play selected will be performed before an audience who then will vote for the grand prize winner. At the conclusion of the Festival the winning playwright will receive a cash prize of $100. The performances will take place at the Obsidian Art Space (3522 White Oak Dr., Houston TX 77007 starting at 8PM Tickets are $20 for Adults and $15 for Students/Seniors. For more information visit:
